Hare & Hounds
The Hare & Hounds in West Ardsley has become a lifeline for many in the local community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Within days of the first lockdown being announced and closing the doors, landlady Jackie, partner Patrick and bar manager Keelie, sprang into action to offer their services to those in need within the local community.
The team were among the first to provide a local takeaway and delivery service and reached an average of 100 people a day. They maintained contact with vulnerable and shielding residents who they phoned for a weekly chat as well as doing shopping and running errands for those in need.
On VE Day they delivered 450 afternoon teas, and provided 75 free of charge to a local nursing home. They created an amazing outdoor space and bar which can offer enough room for 180 people to enjoy some social life at the same time as abiding by social distancing measures.
The team also brought Santa to Tingley and Ardsley at the beginning of December. They delivered hundreds of gifts to children that were standing in their front gardens to cheer and clap as Santa made a tour of the village. They genuinely brought some festive cheer to so many, young and old that evening.
Team Hare & Hounds are always one of the first to put their hand up in the community and help people that need it. They have supported WF3 Kindness since our formation and are real heroes.
