In the early days of our existence we delivered weekly food boxes to a number of people in the community, some of whom we continue to support in various ways. We are now proud to have partnered with two local food banks who can help those in need and who cover our entire target area, Tingley, Ardsley and Thorpe.
What are we doing?
We are proud to have partnered with two Foodbanks in the community, both of the food banks listed below are ready and willing to help people in Tingley, Ardsley & Thorpe that are struggling for food.
Why are we doing this?
When we first launched the charity in March 2020, the local need was highlighted to us pretty quickly, we delivered over 150 food packs. Whilst we were able to reach the demand we soon run out of space with our volunteers giving up space in their home to store donations.
We have worked with the Food Bank at Stanhope Community Centre (Thorpe) since the early days and so it made sense to partner with them and ask refer our supported families to the team there in exchange for donations and support from WF3 Kindness.
Who can use the Food Banks?
Anyone. You do not need a formal referral from a GP/Social Services/Citizens Advice/Job Centre (known as the Food Voucher) to access these services - you can seek help from both food banks yourself.
Where do I need to go?
The WF3 Kindness partnered food banks work slightly differently to some other food banks, and due to the current restrictions on community buildings being open they do not offer an 'open door' service, instead you contact them and let them know your requirements and the team will work hard to get your food delivered, sometimes the same day.
The process to access the food banks is explained below:
