A special delivery for Pinderfields
Maternity Unit at Pinderfields receive a gift... or two
1st May 2020
A special delivery of handmade scrub and uniform bags and essential accessories and supplies donated by people from across Tingley, Ardsley & Thorpe have made their way to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield.
The Tingley Sewing Team have been busy producing scrub and uniform bags as well as other items to help our NHS staff and care workers and the local community have been donating toiletries and essential items to be given to both staff and patients at the hospital.
WF3 Kindness collected tens of bags with the help of volunteers and packaged them into individual cotton bags. We had bags for both male and females which contained; antiperspirant/deodorant, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, mouth wash, hand cream, moisturising cream and hand wash.
In total, 93 'Clean & Fresh Bags' have been given to the staff working in wards across the hospital, including The Stroke Unit, Critical Care/Intensive Care and COVID wards.
Shirleyann McKenna delivered the majority of the bags with her partner and said:
"A massive thank you from myself and my fellow staff in maternity to all you wonderful people for taking the time in making the uniform bags, ear protectors, scrub hats, and knitting hats for new-borns.
I also visited my fellow colleagues on the Critical Care / Intensive care ward and the other covid wards at Pinderfields to dispense your lovely presents to both the staff and patients.
You guys are the hidden gems in this pandemic"
Well done and thank you to everyone for the generosity shown to enable us to do these things.
