Tingley Sewers Tie Up Their Project
1st May 2020
Volunteers from across the community have been busy producing items for NHS staff and Care workers.
The group have been working around the clock to produce Scrub and Uniform Bags, Scrub Hats and Mask head/ear Supports and have benefitted over 1800 individual people working on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Tingley Sewing Team (Sewing Angels) were lead and coordinated by Sue Lillford, who said:
'It has been a truly rewarding achievement and I have had so many individuals that have worked with commitment and dedication to meet the end result.
I wish to thank everybody who donated all the recycled fabric and goods to enable this project to get off the ground and the personal message tags that brought so much emotion to the receivers.
Lastly the group of individuals, too numerous to mention who supported me by volunteering to sew all the fabric and working long hours'
The team have achieved amazing things and have produced 1332 scrub bags, 69 scrub hats and 407 mask extenders.
A great effort by everyone for making this happen and special recognition to Sue Lillford for all her efforts in leading this project
Well done and thank you to everyone for the generosity shown to enable us to do these things.
